HIKE DETAILS Date: July 28, 2018 Location: Moose Lake, MN Length: 6.5 Miles Difficulty: Easy Cumulative Hiking Club Miles: N/A I've been taking a little break from hiking - it has just been far too hot for me - I really wish Fall was a longer season! After about a month off I just couldn't take it anymore it was time to get back our on the trail. I decided to head up and re-hike the hiking club trail at Moose Lake State Park... I did this hike in the winter and totally missed the password sign (Don't ask me how because I found it in the most obvious spot this time). The hiking club trail is fairly short in this park - around 2 miles. It is a pretty easy hike but it is the hardest trail in the park - due to a decent amount of wash out and really tall grass. At this time of year the HCT was lined with wild raspberries and wild flowers, as well as a lot of flies (they were really going after my poor dog). After finding my password I decided that this State Park is small (about 6 miles of hiking trails total) I was going to see what the rest of the park had to offer. So we hiked the entire park. Nothing super impressive but it was a nice quiet easy hike - some of the trails have beautiful views of Echo Lake. Also I had a really nice walk through a white pine forest. All in all a good day. 6 miles of hiking combined with about 4 hours total of driving and I was still back home for lunch!
