Hiking Club Trail #57 HIKE DETAILS Date: November 24, 2022 Location: Currie, MN Length: 1.0 Miles Difficulty: Very Easy Cumulative Hiking Club Miles: 157.6 of 197 Lake Shetek is the largest lake in South Western MN. The hike takes you out and around Loon Island. The trail is fully accessible with a nice wide packed gravel path the entire way. The easy hike was nice after hiking Camden earlier in the day. It was WINDY especially on the causeway that takes you out to the island. The lake is starting to freeze over - the dogs were able to walk out a few feet along the beach. Though the hike is short - it was nice to have a different kind of hike - water views the whole way. We heard some bird songs despite the wind. And there were fresh deer tracks going both ways down the causeway. The history of this park is interesting it had been inhabited as early as 900 AD. Would love to come back to this park if I am ever in the area
